Early Childhood Conversation Continues at SOCAP18

Gary Community Investments will be in San Francisco in October for the 11th-annual SOCAP conference, the world’s largest impact investing convening, to continue the conversation around increasing investment and innovative thinking in the early childhood sector that was sparked at last year’s event.

In 2017, GCI partnered with Social Capital Markets to curate the first-ever track of sessions centered around the latest in early childhood research, entrepreneurship and investment opportunities—read our reflections from day one and day two of those sessions for a refresher. We also announced our Early Childhood Innovation Prize, which in May had 22 winners recognized for their innovative solutions to maximizing every child's potential during their first three years of life.

This year, we are helping coordinate and moderate the following two sessions. If you’re attending SOCAP, join GCI and our partners to learn how to leverage innovation strategies and research to drive investment, achieve scale and create impact:

Wednesday, October 24 — 4:00 pm
Using Innovation Strategies to Increase Impact
Achieving impact in a specific sector can be accelerated through innovation strategies that spur new thinking, collaboration and investment. Investors looking to build a stronger pipeline of companies and ventures can consider leveraging innovation tools like prizes, accelerators and incubators, ecosystem development and capital strategies to get there. Using early childhood as a case study, this working session and networking opportunity will explore how innovation strategies are helping to create an emerging pipeline for investors interested in improving outcomes for young children.
